Life at Home in Edmonton

Created by Tracy 12 years ago
Rose lived at Home in Edmonton with her husband Henry, there daughter Tina and Son in law Vic and then me her Grand Daughter Tracy. Life at home was never dull we used to laugh and call it open house for there was always someone popping in for a chat. My nan doted on all of us at home we were her little family. I had a lovely childhood growing up with my Nan and Grandad living at home with me and for this I will always be thankful for. I remember my Nan and Grandad getting ready to go out every Saturday evening to the Old Legion Club in Edmonton. The house used to smell of my Nan's going out perfume as she used to call it. There life together was happy my Grandad was known for his singing and would always be up for giving people a song. One of his favourites was When your old wedding ring was new, he would always sing this to my Nan when he had a few too many to drink. (This was every Saturday Night) We had a lovely couple live next door to us called Jessie and Bert Shipman they used to wait up to listen to my Grandad singing on his way home from the club every saturday, and as I have talked to more of the family about the old days they all too spoke of my Grandads singing and playing the piano accordion. My Nan and Grandad had a special relationship and they was simply each others best friend, two hearts beating as one. He was the sparkle in my Nans eye. I was the only grandchild so you can imagine how much I was spoilt but my Grandad was also strict and taught me always to treat people as you would like to be treated. I learnt alot from him and I hope he would be proud of the person I have become. I was and still am very proud of my Nan and Grandad and believe they are the most genuine and honest people I have known who now days are hard to find. My mum reminds me so much of my Grandad she has his smile, sense of humour and so many little things she does is just like watching him. I know my Nan and Grandad are and always will be proud of her, I know they did there best for her and I will always be thankful that they raised this lovely lady into the person she is today my beautiful Mum.
